Silver Lining – An element of hope or a redeeming quality in an otherwise unfortunate situation.
Monday, April 20th, when I heard that the beloved and historic Blithewald mansion was engulfed in flames, I was utterly and completely heartbroken. To see so much work, talent and creativity be consumed was overwhelming. My first concern was that no one was hurt which thankfully was the case.
As I have taken a bit of time to digest this experience, I am thinking that there are so many circumstances in life that we go through and each one is an opportunity to learn, grow and evolve. With the recent events related to the Stately Homes by the Sea Designer Show House, I have seen what a collaborative effort from a talented team can produce in a very short period of time. The individuals and companies that participated in the renovation of the room that I designed showed me the thoughtfulness and dedication of an amazing group. I also saw how hard the volunteers involved with the Show House worked – some of whom have been involved with the Show House for 10+ years. All for the benefit of a worthy cause – VNA Health Group which provides home health care and hospice for people in need. The VGI team and the teams that worked with the other designers on the Show House can still walk away and feel proud of what was accomplished there. That for me is my Silver Lining.
I would like to share with you the finished guest bedroom from the Show House which I was lucky enough to photograph.
These are a couple of before and after photos to show the transformation of the room.
Thank you for your support.
